Our premium traditional system uses a dedicated Simiron epoxy base coat that is allowed to properly cure before the polyaspartic topcoat is applied.

Day 1

Mechanically diamond-grind the concrete.
Repair cracks, pits, and surface imperfections as necessary.
Apply a professional-grade, USA-made Simiron epoxy base coat.
Broadcast decorative flakes to full rejection.

Day 2

Scrape and recover excess flakes.
Thoroughly vacuum the surface.
Apply a clear, UV-stable Simiron polyaspartic topcoat.

Why two days? Allowing the epoxy base coat to properly cure before the polyaspartic topcoat goes down is one of the key advantages of our two-day installation process.

A Premium Coating Is Only as Good as the Concrete Preparation Underneath It

Preparation is one of the most important parts of any coating installation. Every Five Star floor, one-day or two-day, starts with mechanical diamond grinding.

Diamond Grinding, Not Acid Etching

We mechanically diamond-grind the concrete rather than relying on acid etching or simple chemical cleaning. The purpose isn’t to remove more concrete than necessary. We remove the weak surface layer, contaminants, and previous coatings when necessary, along with enough sound concrete to create the proper surface profile for the coating system to mechanically bond to.

Edges, Corners & Dust Control

Edges and restricted areas are prepared with handheld grinding equipment, so the surface is properly profiled wall to wall, not just in the open middle of the floor. We use HEPA-filtered dust collection throughout the grinding process.

Repairs Before Coating

Cracks, pits, and surface imperfections are repaired as necessary before the base coat is applied.

The details you can’t see after installation are often the ones that determine how long your floor lasts. Here’s what else we evaluate and offer.

MOISTURE EVALUATION

Moisture conditions in a concrete slab can affect coating adhesion. When necessary, we evaluate the concrete for moisture before installation. For slabs that need additional protection, moisture-mitigation systems are available.

Common questions about our one-day and two-day systems, concrete preparation, and what to expect.

What is the difference between your one-day and two-day systems?

Both systems start with mechanical diamond grinding and finish with a clear, UV-stable Simiron polyaspartic topcoat over a full decorative flake broadcast. The two-day system uses a dedicated Simiron epoxy base coat that is allowed to cure before the topcoat is applied on day two. The one-day system uses a Simiron polyaspartic base coat so the full system can be installed in a single day.

Which system is right for my garage?

It depends on your schedule, how you use your garage, and the condition of your concrete. If getting back into your garage quickly matters most, the one-day polyaspartic system is a great fit. If you prefer our premium traditional system with a dedicated epoxy base coat, the two-day system is the way to go. We’ll go over both options during your estimate.

Why do you diamond grind instead of acid etching?

Diamond grinding mechanically removes the weak surface layer, contaminants, and previous coatings when necessary, and creates the surface profile the coating needs to mechanically bond to. Acid etching and chemical cleaning don’t give the same level of control or consistency. A premium coating is only as good as the concrete preparation underneath it.

Do you check my concrete for moisture?

Yes. Moisture conditions can affect coating adhesion, so we evaluate the concrete before installation when necessary. If your slab needs additional protection, moisture-mitigation systems are available.

Randy- the epoxy king of the valley! If there were 6 stars Randy and his team would get it!  I have done a full house renovation and have worked with 5 different contractors and Randy and his team have been the best vendors by far. And of all of the things I've done at my house doing the flake system in the garage was the best decision. It came out better than I ever imagined and transformed my garage. Randy is really nice and patient and his guys went above and beyond. All the other epoxy companies wanted like an extra $500 to grind and flatten my stem walls but Randy advised me that it will look great without that and not to waste my money.
